Chinese enterprises in Italy see opportunities for deeper business cooperation

December 15, 2025

Abstract : Most Chinese enterprises operating in Italy remain optimistic about the future development in the country, while calling for improved market access policies and greater trade and investment facilitation to foster a more favorable business environment for mutually beneficial cooperation between Chinese and Italian companies, according to a newly released report.

ROME, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Most Chinese enterprises operating in Italy remain optimistic about the future development in the country, while calling for improved market access policies and greater trade and investment facilitation to foster a more favorable business environment for mutually beneficial cooperation between Chinese and Italian companies, according to a newly released report.

The 2025 Development Report on Chinese Enterprises in Italy, published by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Italy (CCCIT), is based on questionnaires and in-depth interviews with more than 100 Chinese enterprises operating in Italy and provides a comprehensive overview of their operating conditions, challenges and development prospects.

According to the report, in recent years, Chinese enterprises have continued to expand the scope of their investments in Italy, now covering 36 major industries. Investment has increasingly shifted toward higher value-added and sustainable sectors, including advanced manufacturing, new energy, life sciences, pharmaceutical production, cultural tourism, aviation logistics and cross-border e-commerce.

The report also highlights the significant contribution of Chinese enterprises to Italy's economic development. It shows that there are currently 604 Chinese-invested or Chinese-shareholding enterprises operating in Italy, providing more than 30,000 jobs and generating over 24 billion euros in revenue.

Speaking at the launch ceremony of the report, Chinese Consul General in Milan Liu Kan congratulated the chamber on the release of the report. He said China and Italy should continue to work together, uphold dialogue and cooperation, and promote high-quality and sustainable development for both economies.

Adolfo Urso, Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, sent a congratulatory letter to the event. In the letter, Urso noted that Chinese enterprises in Italy have made positive contributions to local employment and tax revenues. He said the ministry would continue to provide professional investment information, advisory services and support to the CCCIT and its member companies.

President of the CCCIT Cheng Xuan said the chamber has remained committed to building platforms for exchange and cooperation, reflecting enterprise needs and advancing pragmatic Italy-China economic and trade relations. Compiling the report, he said, represents a continuation and deepening of that mission.

Founded in 2021, the CCCIT is the sole officially recognized organization representing Chinese enterprises in Italy. It has 139 members spanning finance, telecommunications, technology, and manufacturing.
