Chinese firm donates school supplies to high school students in western Cambodia

December 01, 2025

Abstract : China Southern Power Grid Lancang-Mekong International Co., Ltd. on Saturday donated school supplies to high school students here in western Cambodia.

PURSAT, Cambodia, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- China Southern Power Grid Lancang-Mekong International Co., Ltd. on Saturday donated school supplies to high school students here in western Cambodia.

Held at the Hun Sen Bakchenhchien High School in Phnom Kravanh district, the Chinese firm provided a total of 1,065 students with sets of school supplies such as schoolbags, extracurricular books, stationery, and daily necessities, and also assisted the school in establishing a "Lancang-Mekong Book House".

Sum Sopharit, principal of the high school, said the donation and the book house would help improve the learning and teaching environment at the school.

Sopharit said the donation truly reflects the long-standing bond of friendship between Cambodia and China.

"I would like to thank the company for donating these reading books and also would like to ask it to provide scholarships and stationery to our school because this school is located in a rural area, so most students are poor," he said.

Hun Chankanha, a 12th-grade student at the school, said she was really excited to receive school supplies, saying that they were very useful for her studies.

"When I graduate, I would love to serve as a bridge to further deepen the Cambodia-China friendship," the 17-year-old student said.

At the event, a Chinese medical team in Cambodia also conducted free traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) consultations, providing health and medical lectures and treatment to the school's teachers, students, and local residents, allowing them to experience the charm of TCM culture firsthand.
