BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Industrial parks have played an important role in boosting industrial transformation and economic development of counties in China.
To understand the "Chinese miracle" of economic growth, one must understand China's county-level economics, says a report titled "New Era County Economics," released by Xinhua Institute at the Belt and Road Forum for International Think Tank Cooperation held recently in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province.
According to the "New Era County Economics," traditional manufacturing serves as the foundation of the modern industrial system, and efforts should be accelerated to advance digital transformation, promote advanced and practical technologies, and focus on enhancing high-end, intelligent, and green development levels.
Huairen County in north China's Shanxi Province has seen the Huairen Economic and Technological Development Zone continuously improve the brand awareness and market influence of Huairen Ceramics through technological iteration and upgrading, product quality optimization, and sales channel expansion. In the third quarter of 2025, the Xinhua-Huairen Ceramics brand communication index debuted at a historical peak of 116.05 points, a significant increase of 30.4 percent year on year.
Wenshui county in Shanxi has targeted the steel mold industry as a key advantageous sector, and is promoting industrial upgrading through innovation, with the popularization of CNC laser equipment driving dual improvements in efficiency and profit. In 2024, the Xinhua-Wenshui steel mold industry innovation and development index hit its highest point since 2019.
The report emphasizes that China's economic development has shifted from a high-speed growth stage to a high-quality development stage, and counties should focus on technological innovation, actively cultivate new quality productive forces, and accelerate the formation of new economic growth points.
Mianxian County in northwest China's Shaanxi Province has established a county-level drone industrial park and a smart city drone big data workstation.
Changfeng County in east China's Anhui Province has seen the Changfeng (Shuangfeng) Economic Development Zone contribute about 80 percent of the total economic output of the county in 2024. The zone is accelerating the formation of industrial clusters involving new energy vehicles, intelligent connected vehicles, bio-manufacturing, and new-generation information technology, etc.
Many county-level parks are also working hard to achieve sustainable economic development.
Anji County in east China's Zhejiang Province has seen the Anji Economic Development Zone vigorously promote green development with distinctive features, and rank 74th among the top 100 industrial counties in China.
The Yueqing Economic Development Zone in Yueqing, a county-level city in Zhejiang, is accelerating the path of integrated development between industries and the city, promoting collaborative efficiency in pollution reduction and carbon reduction in circular transformation, low-carbon industrial transformation, and green infrastructure construction, etc.
With the continuous aggregation of innovative elements and the continuous improvement of the industrial ecology, county-level parks will contribute more to the high-quality development of China's economy.
