Diplomats of embassies in China from Honduras, Guyana, and Mongolia spoke highly of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in facilitating implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, saying its contributions epitomize commitment of China and other participating countries to building a Green Silk Road.
Ministerial-level and other senior officials from Cambodia, the Maldives, and Pakistan expressed their expectations to build closer cooperation with China. Green development is an inevitable choice for achieving common prosperity, said Cambodian Environment Minister Eang Sophalleth, expressing appreciation for China's providing replicable green development experience.
In the future, more efforts are likely to be pooled by China and other countries to jointly combat global environment crisis and advance green Belt and Road cooperation through dialogues in climate change, biodiversity loss, plastic pollution, etc., said experts.
BRIGC, an innovative platform for international communication in emerging sectors, has established multiple dialogue mechanisms such as the Belt and Road Green Innovation Conference, green development investment and financing partnership and green and low-carbon expert network, introduced Zhao Yingmin, president of BRIGC.
Together with global partners, BRIGC will continue to optimize green investment, financing and technology collaboration mechanisms to promote application of green technologies, standards and projects in related countries, noted Zhao.
During the conference, a report compiled by BRIGC and UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) debuted to present green development practices in ASEAN countries, Africa, Latin America and other regions.
Jeffrey Sachs, president of UN SDSN said in a video speech that the report is a must-read, adding that China offers vigorous support to low-carbon transformation of developing countries via South-South cooperation given its leading role in green technology and energy transition fields.
To further bolster green cooperation, BRIGC inked cooperative documents with UN Office for Project Services and Pakistan-China Institute respectively to advance green project application and aid green transition of energy and sustainable transportation development in Pakistan.
