BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co. Ltd. is digitizing grid operations by employing IoT, quantum communication and big data technology in order to improve power supply reliability and operational efficiency.
In the Luodian area of Jinhua City in east China’s Zhejiang Province, technicians have installed and commissioned 12 quantum communication switches on the 10-kV distribution line, which can identify and segregate power grid malfunction immediately.
In transmission technology, the power grid company put into operation a new ice-melting device in ultra-high voltage line in Jinhua following three years of development. This system can melt ice in winter and protect the power line from lightning in summer, which can help cut ice-melting preparation time by 90 percent. (Edited by Liu Yilu)
