Such cross-nation and cross-industry talks mean much for advancing global energy transition, believed Andreas Loeschel, a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering, saying that for different countries, energy transition stands for different things thus they can learn from others' successful cases and practices.
During the forum, a series of green development research outcomes were released, including typical cases from oil and gas enterprises, a white paper on zero-carbon parks, and the "sci-tech+full scale zero-carbon" action plan.
As Pan Jiahua, head of the ecological civilization research institute of Beijing University of Technology said, the above-mentioned achievements serve as a valuable reference for zero-carbon park operators in cities eager to promote greener development.
Currently, Weihai International Port Economic and Technological Development District is standing at the forefront of national zero-carbon park construction, said Hu Changquan, joint-secretary general of the forum.
Being a forerunner and beneficiary of zero-carbon park construction, the district has applied green power and energy management systems and crafted the Weihai zero-carbon city construction enabling center.
For next step, the district is expected to step onto a more systemic, standard path and grow to be a "port-adjacent model" for exemplifying zero-carbon park construction, according to Hu.
Upon conclusion of the forum, the China Humboldt international zero-carbon industrial fund was established, marking a new financing source that integrates public and private capital to invigorate zero-carbon park construction and related industries such as new energy, energy saving and green manufacturing.
By pooling a group of institutional and corporate investors, the fund is dedicated to introducing advanced foreign technologies into China and helping more Chinese zero-carbon brands go global and serve the international community.
Situated in Weihai City of Shandong Province, the Weihai International Port Economic and Technological Development District is a pilot zone for provincial energy-related green and low-carbon transition.
