BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The eighth China-Myanmar ministerial meeting on law enforcement and security cooperation was held in Beijing on Monday.
The meeting was co-chaired by Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong, and Myanmar's Union Minister for Home Affairs Tun Tun Naung.
Wang said that China is willing to work with Myanmar to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, actively implement the Global Security Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, deepen law enforcement and security cooperation, strengthen communication and coordination within multilateral frameworks, jointly combat transnational crimes such as telecom fraud and drug trafficking, and jointly carry out training programs on law enforcement capacity.
Wang urged joint efforts to safeguard peace and stability along the China-Myanmar border, and ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions and projects in Myanmar.
Tun Tun Naung noted that bilateral cooperation has achieved fruitful results since the seventh ministerial meeting.
Myanmar appreciates China's long-term help and support, and stands ready to take concrete and effective measures to intensify efforts to combat transnational crimes and ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions and projects in Myanmar, he said.
