ZHENGZHOU, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Xinhua News Agency signed cooperation agreements with several foreign media organizations on Thursday during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit held in Zhengzhou, central China's Henan Province.
These agreements aim to deepen cooperation in news and information exchange, personnel visits, and the integrated development of media.
President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua attended the agreement exchange and signing ceremonies with Abdullah Kose, vice general manager of Turkiye's Demiroren Media; Mohammed Alyami, director general of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation; and Iryna Akulovich, director general of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency.
During the event, leaders of foreign media organizations expressed their willingness to work closely with counterparts such as Xinhua to fully tap into the strength of news reporting and think tank research in boosting dialogue among civilizations and deepening mutual understanding and trust, thus contributing to promoting people-to-people bonds among countries and advancing world peace and development.
Abdullah Kose said the signing of the cooperation agreement marks a new level of cooperation between the news organizations of Turkiye and China, opening up a new window for audiences in Turkiye and its neighboring countries and regions to better understand China through diverse channels.
Mohammed Alyami acknowledged the broad prospects for strengthening cooperation with China's news organizations and expressed his expectation to strengthen ties with Xinhua in areas such as news and information exchange, enhancing mutual understanding and friendship, and contributing to shared development and common prosperity.
Iryna Akulovich expressed her willingness to continue strengthening cooperation with Xinhua, deepen exchanges, and jointly contribute to a stronger voice for the Global South in the international community.
The SCO Media and Think Tank Summit is being held from July 23 to 27 in Zhengzhou. It is co-hosted by Xinhua, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Henan provincial government, under the guidance of China's State Council Information Office.
