China, Kuwait hold cultural event to mark 1st UN int'l day for dialogue among civilizations

Abstract : A cultural event has been held here at the China Cultural Center in Kuwait to mark the first UN International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, which is observed on June 10 annually.

KUWAIT CITY, June 10 (Xinhua) -- A cultural event has been held here at the China Cultural Center in Kuwait to mark the first UN International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, which is observed on June 10 annually.

Titled "Conversation and Connection: Chinese and Arabic Calligraphy and Music Salon," the event on Monday evening showcased the rich cultural heritage of both nations through calligraphy displays and music performances, underscoring the deep-rooted ties between China and Kuwait.

Co-organized by the China Cultural Center in Kuwait and the Old Kuwaiti Crafts Society, the celebration gathered nearly 200 guests from diverse sectors of China and Kuwait.

Liu Xiang, chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, emphasized that China's proposal for this international day exemplifies the successful implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative.

"Despite geographical distance, our peoples share deep cultural bonds," he stated, pledging enhanced cultural activities to foster mutual learning and progress.

Liu Jinhong, director of the China Cultural Center in Kuwait, noted that the fusion of calligraphy and music "built bridges of understanding," elevating bilateral cultural relations.

Hussain Al-Asfour, president of the Old Kuwaiti Crafts Society, praised the achievements in artistic collaboration between Kuwait and China, urging for continued efforts to promote inclusivity and openness.
