BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday exchanged congratulatory messages with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen over the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Denmark was among the first European countries to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, said Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, the two countries have achieved considerable development in bilateral ties and witnessed fruitful cooperation in various fields, Wang said.
In August 2023, Rasmussen paid a successful visit to China, during which the governments of China and Denmark issued a green joint work programme for the 2023-2026 period, marking a new stage in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, said the foreign minister.
Wang said he stands ready to work with Rasmussen to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two foreign ministries and facilitate the healthy and stable development of China-Denmark relations.
For his part, Rasmussen said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Denmark has always attached great importance to cooperation with China, adding that the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has developed rapidly through continuous and close exchanges, guided by the green joint work programme launched in 2023.
He said that in this era of geopolitical turmoil and uncertainty, the two countries need, more than ever, to uphold and promote the stability of the international order through cooperation, safeguard international law and rules-based trade, and ensure economic growth.
