ACCRA, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese companies on Thursday established a mining association in Accra, the capital of Ghana, reaffirming their commitment to responsible and sustainable industry practices in the country.

The Association of China-Ghana Mining (ACGM), initiated by several leading Chinese mining companies, aims to deepen cooperation between Chinese and Ghanaian mining enterprises, nurture investments, and promote technological synergy.

Addressing the launch ceremony, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah said his ministry is eager to work closely with the ACGM to enhance and streamline Chinese investments in Ghana's mining sector.

"Through structured cooperation, we can unlock new opportunities while ensuring that mining activities align with Ghana's broader developmental and sustainable goals," Buah said, adding that Ghana looks forward to technical exchanges to leverage China's technological advancements to build a mining sector that is both economically robust and environmentally sustainable.

"China's expertise in underground mining, low-grade ore development, and mining-related technical training presents invaluable opportunities for Ghana to improve efficiency, optimize resource utilization, and strengthen our global competitiveness," the minister said.

Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Tong Defa noted that the establishment of the association serves as both a bridge for win-win cooperation between China and Ghana in the mining sector and an important platform for strengthening communication among the government, businesses, and local communities.

Tong added that the ACGM could help Chinese enterprises better integrate into the local market, enhance the quality of cooperation, and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.

The ambassador urged the association to help create more local jobs, increase the added value of minerals, and foster the healthy development of mining cooperation.

President of the ACGM Tang Zhenjiang pledged that the association would spearhead cooperation among Chinese enterprises and local collaborators for mutual benefits.

Tang also announced the establishment of a fund to help promote education, social welfare, environmental protection, and community development in Ghana.
