March 19, 2025

Abstract : The Sierra Leone Broadcasters' Association (SiLBA) said Tuesday that it seeks stronger cooperation with Chinese and global media to foster a professional, inclusive and impactful media landscape.

FREETOWN, March 18 (Xinhua) -- The Sierra Leone Broadcasters' Association (SiLBA) said Tuesday that it seeks stronger cooperation with Chinese and global media to foster a professional, inclusive and impactful media landscape.

In a statement, SiLBA said that its representatives would travel to China for a high-level seminar on media and broadcasting. The organization aims to use this opportunity to strengthen ties with global counterparts, particularly Chinese media.

"This is a significant opportunity for Sierra Leone's broadcasting sector to learn from global industry leaders and enhance collaboration with our Chinese counterparts. We look forward to gaining valuable insights that will contribute to the growth and development of our media landscape," said Daniel Amara, the association's secretary-general.

According to SiLBA, the event is expected to bring together media professionals, policymakers and industry leaders from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, reinforcing a shared commitment to sustainable development and cultural exchange through the evolving capabilities of broadcast media.

"The association is poised to gain significant insights from this international seminar, which aligns with its mission to cultivate a media landscape that is professional, inclusive and impactful," the statement added.

It said that the association remains committed to creating opportunities for broadcasters to engage with global standards and best practices, paving the way for a vibrant media sector that can serve both local and international audiences effectively.
