NEW YORK, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Progress driven by technology has become an important highlight of the Chinese economy, as the country continues making strides in fourth-industrial revolution technologies, a U.S. scholar has said.
China, with advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, automation, electric vehicles, high-speed rail and advanced materials, is now transforming to a more technology-focused model, and it's been very successful, said Mitchell Presnick, visiting fellow at Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University.
Saying that he has tried Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek and social media platform rednote and the experience was impressive, Presnick described it as "a wakeup call to people in the West who didn't realize that China was so advanced in AI."
"I never believed that only one model could work. I always knew that China would use its own way to innovate," said Presnick, adding that he is impressed by China's capacity to commercialize technology innovations.
Presnick also sees potential for Chinese and U.S. companies to collaborate in joint ventures in many parts of the world.
He said China and the United States have the opportunity to create a new bilateral relationship in the 21st century, which could help build global stability and prosperity for years to come.
Presnick said that the United States and China need each other, and "the reality is the United States and China are two halves of a symbiotic relationship.
