BEIJING, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Themed "Strengthening Nepal-China Cultural Bonds," a Nepal Tea-tasting Festival was held in Beijing on January 17, aiming to promote Nepali tea culture and enhance exchanges among Nepali and Chinese tea traders and businesses.
Krishna Prasad Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to China, highlighted Nepal's tea culture in his speech, pointing out the significant potentials of cooperation in the tea industry between Nepal and China and emphasizing the need for collaboration between the two sides in the areas of capacity building, research and development, and technology transfer.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song expressed in his video speech China's readiness to collaborate with Nepal, continuing to utilize tea as a platform to promote mutual benefit, cultural integration, and strengthen people-to-people ties.
In the context of China-Nepal relations, tea is more than a cup of drink, but signifies profound friendship, exemplifies close cultural connection and promises win-win cooperation, according to Yuan Mindao, vice president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
Xu Xiaohu, vice president of the China Chamber of Commerce of Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products, pointed out that China is a potential market for quality orthodox black tea from Nepal.
Jointly hosted by the Embassy of Nepal to China and the Silk Road Cities Alliance, the event attracted over 200 participants including government officials, diplomats, representatives of industry organizations and tea companies, and so on.
