MOSCOW, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Companies from Russian Vologda region signed several cooperation agreements with Chinese manufacturers during "Days of the Vologda Region in China" event, which is being held for the first time in China from November 18 to 22.
As a result of cooperation with Chinese partners in the field of innovations, it is planned to attract 2 million U.S. dollars of investments into the region's economy by 2028, said Georgy Filimonov, governor of the Vologda region.
"We are ready to increase exports and develop new investment projects. We focus on partnership with Chinese companies in processing, logistics and distribution," said the governor.
An export contract was signed between Vologda Ice Cream and Kubing Import&Export Trading Co., Ltd. The agreement will allow the Vologda producer to send Vologda ice cream to the Chinese market on a regular basis for five years. Within the framework of the contract, it is planned to send more than 2,000 tonnes of products to China. The first delivery is scheduled for January 2025.
An agreement between the Vologda Timber Producers Group of Companies and the Chinese Association of Timber and Wood Products Distributors was concluded. It is planned to open a representative office of the Vologda Timber Producers in Shanghai. The agreement opens new perspectives for the producers of the region - it will provide entry into the association of distributors and will allow to get access to the largest timber buyers in China. It will also contribute to the exchange of experience and technologies, establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation.
It is learned that this region is a leader in Russia's dairy farming. The milk yield per cow in Vologda region reached 8,857 kilograms, which is higher than the Russian average. Last year, Vologda farmers produced about 640,000 tons of milk, setting a record for the last 32 years.
Vologda's products are exported to 26 foreign countries. China is one of the key partners of the region, fishmeal and breakfast cereals are supplied there. Milk powder, ice cream, confectionery, canned food and sturgeon caviar might be exported to China.
According to the results of the first half of 2024, China ranks third in terms of foreign trade turnover of Vologda's products, fourth in terms of exports to and second in terms of imports from the region.
