BEIJING, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- NIO, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, announced recently its entry into the Azerbaijan market through a partnership with Green Car, an Azerbaijan auto company.
NIO signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Green Car during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), or COP29, which kicked off in Azerbaijan's capital city of Baku on November 11.
China's production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) account for over 60 percent of the global total, ranking first in the world for nine consecutive years, said Zhao Yingmin, vice minister of China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
NIO, as the designated car brand for VIPs at COP29, provides transportation services for dignitaries from various countries during the conference. Meanwhile, Green Car, established in 2014, specializes in promoting electric vehicles and sustainable transportation solutions, contributing to the construction of new energy infrastructure.
Green Car will become NIO's national general distributor in Azerbaijan, directly reaching local users.
