BEIJING, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Shenyang Power Supply Company in Shenyang city is using artificial intelligent technology to help cable line inspection so as to ensure safe operation of the power grid system ahead of peak season during the winter.
Under the influence of cold waves and heavy snowfall, it is estimated that the maximum daily power supply in Shenyang, the capital city of northeast China's Liaoning Province, will reach 158 million kWh this winter , up 2.4 percent year on year, and the maximum hourly power supply will increase to 7.56 million kW, 2.9 percent higher than that in last year. This is bringing big pressure to the power supply during the peak season.
The 66 kV and 220 kV underground transmission cables are important power equipment to ensure reliable power supply in Shenyang during the winter. Among them, the 220kV Shengjing-Pangjiang underground cable tunnel, known as the artery of the city's power system, is boosting the power supply capacity in the eastern part of Shenyang from 1.5 million kilowatts to 3.5 million kilowatts.
In order to ensure the safe operation of these transmission cables, State Grid Shenyang Power Supply Company installed three inspection robots, one fire alarm robot, 238 sets of active fire alarm systems and 34 sets of environmental monitoring systems in the tunnel. These intelligent equipment could help identify risk points, address problems or isolate accident areas by themselves.
At present, the number of 66 kV and 220 kV cable lines in Shenyang totaled 75, over 30 percent of which have been covered by intelligent inspection technology. (Edited by Jiang Yujuan, jiangyj@xinhua.org)
