Many professional seminars and a China-ASEAN short drama fair were also held during the conference to provide online and offline exchange platforms for the participants.
China's short drama sector has seen explosive growth in recent years. According to relevant data, the market share of Chinese short dramas in the overseas markets has exceeded 80 percent, with international short drama platforms such as ReelShort, FlexTV, DramaBox emerging.
China and ASEAN countries should deepen content cooperation to create high-quality co-productions, strengthen the building of related platforms such as the ASEAN-China Media Week, explore cross-sector cooperation between short drama, culture and tourism, and cross-border e-commerce, etc., and leverage technical means to improve user experience, said Yan Ni, an official with the National Radio and Television Administration.
Since the beginning of this year, multiple short dramas made in Guangxi have stood out. According to Lu Zhengning, deputy head of the Guangxi Radio and Television Bureau, Guangxi will implement the China-ASEAN co-production plan, build a China-ASEAN integrated communication platform, and open a green channel for short drama filing to support the sector.
Nanning's Qingxiu District has attracted multiple leading short drama production companies with excellent conditions for short drama development such as unique urban styles and natural landscapes. The conference will help the district gather resources for the production and dissemination of short dramas and explore win-win cooperation between the sector and culture and tourism, rural revitalization, media integration, etc.
The event was jointly organized by relevant departments of the National Radio and Television Administration and local authorities in Guangxi.
