The 2nd Traditional Sports International Festival was held in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province from Oct. 17 to Oct. 21, 2024. The festival includes Wushu, Health Qigong, Go (Weiqi) and Dragon and Lion Dance, attracting contestants from 27 countries and regions. A team from Malaysia Johor Loong & Lion Dance Sport Association led by Chan Hong Kin won two gold medals in Dragon Dance Category.
Chan Hong Kin, 52, has been a member of the team for more than 30 years. He hopes that through the festival in Kunming, the team members from Malaysia can not only show their skills, but also deepen friendship with Chinese people.
"I first came to China in 1999," Chan Hong Kin said, "After the competition, we will go to Lufeng City to visit some old friends. I'm also looking forward to seeing more new Chinese friends in Malaysia."
This year marks the 50th anniversary celebrations of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, which promote more people-to-people exchanges in traditonal culture field. (Xinhua/Chen Xinbo)
