October 09, 2024

Abstract : About 1,500 guests shared their views on fostering global cross-border e-commerce at the Global Cross-border E-commerce Annual Meeting (Zhuhai-Hengqin) 2024 on Tuesday in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province.

GUANGZHOU, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- About 1,500 guests shared their views on fostering global cross-border e-commerce at the Global Cross-border E-commerce Annual Meeting (Zhuhai-Hengqin) 2024 on Tuesday in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province.

"As an innovator in trade models, cross-border e-commerce is reshaping the global trade landscape," said Huang Kunming, secretary of the Communist Party of China Guangdong Provincial Committee, when meeting with the guests.

"Guangdong's total cross-border e-commerce import and export volume surged from 11.3 billion yuan (about 1.6 billion U.S. dollars) in 2015 to 843.3 billion yuan in 2023. The province's cross-border e-commerce trade volume accounts for over one-third of the national total, maintaining the largest scale in China," Huang added.

Speaking at the event, Fu Hua, president of Xinhua News Agency, said cross-border e-commerce was transforming the methods, habits and rules of global trade at an unprecedented speed, accelerating the reshaping of the international trade landscape.

"Guangdong is one of China's most robust economic regions and a hub for international trade, with a strong foundation and natural advantages for developing cross-border e-commerce," Fu noted.

The event is hosted by Xinhua News Agency.
