BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The 20th Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival of Linyi kicked off on September 4 in Linyi City of east China's Shandong Province, attracting calligraphy artists, collectors, entrepreneurs, and calligraphy enthusiasts from all over the country.
At the opening ceremony, several leaders and guests presented awards to the winners of the "Yan Zhenqing Award" and outstanding calligraphy representatives, showcasing the inheritance and innovation of calligraphy art.
This year's festival covers a total of 28 meticulously planned activities including calligraphy art exhibitions, cultural studies and creative products sales.
It is noted that this year's festival emphasizes "benefiting the public with culture", inviting numerous calligraphers and calligraphy enthusiasts to write calligraphy classics from illustrious ancient Chinese calligraphers.
In addition, there are a series of calligraphy exhibitions and cultural and creative product exhibitions to showcase the city's historical culture and natural scenery.
It is introduced that Linyi City is the hometown to world-famed ancient Chinese calligrapher Wang Xizhi, who is also referred to as the Calligrapher Sage.
The city has been hosting the festival for 20 consecutive sessions since 2003, attracting the participation of over 1,300 enterprises and 5 million people.
Jointly hosted by the Shandong Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the People's Government of Linyi City, the event aims to promote the art of calligraphy.
