BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- A national folk drum dance performance and the first Ansai drum culture art exchange activity were held Wednesday to Thursday in Ansai District of Yan'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
15 folk drum dance and music troupes from across the country staged various performances such as Shaanbei folk songs and storytelling at the ceremony, out of which 11 art troupes were selected by experts to compete for an on-site folk literature and art award.
Ansai's special cultural tourism products were also showcased during the two-day event through exhibition and sales activities.
It is noted that Ansai has been focusing on the protection, inheritance, and utilization of intangible cultural heritage in recent years, accelerating the construction of a national-level Shaanbei cultural ecological protection area in Yan'an while increasing efforts to protect, inherit as well as improve the recognition and profile of folk art forms such as Ansai waist drum, Ansai paper-cutting, and Ansai folk songs.
