BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- A new energy equipment company in Suzhou of east China's Jiangsu Province bought 100-tonne carbon emissions reduction from charging from Suzhou Public Transport Group on August 21 through the one-stop carbon neutrality inclusive service center in Suzhou, making the deal the first inclusive carbon trading in charging at the State Grid-backed platform.
In May this year, State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company joined hands with MVGX in Singapore and built the first one-stop carbon neutrality inclusive service center in Jiangsu. The platform provides services such as carbon verification, carbon emissions reduction, carbon trading and carbon neutrality certification for market entities.
Carbon inclusiveness is the process of quantifying low-carbon behaviors of individuals and small- and medium-sized enterprises as carbon emissions reduction, and monetizing their value through transactions and other means.
New energy vehicle is an important scenario in the carbon inclusiveness system. The Suzhou carbon neutrality inclusive service center has formulated and issued the carbon inclusiveness methodology for special vehicle charging to provide scientific basis for certifying new energy vehicles as carbon emissions reduction.
The methodology was formulated by quickly obtaining charging data of electric vehicle charging stations through power big data and comprehensively comparing the unit mileage power consumption of electric vehicles and the unit mileage fuel consumption of fuel vehicles, noted Tao Yewei, a staff member from State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company.
Enterprises and institutions can use this methodology to verify carbon emissions reduction in special vehicle charging scenarios and monetize their value through carbon trading.
Suzhou Public Transport Group is among the first batch of enterprises enjoying the dividends brought by carbon inclusiveness in charging. The group has recently conducted carbon asset verification on 13 bus charging stations, and based on a total charging capacity of 130 million kWh, it can issue carbon emissions reduction of approximately 56,000 tonnes.
According to Shen Junhua from the group, the group has earned a profit of 3,000 yuan by selling 100-tonne carbon emissions reduction from charging through the Suzhou carbon neutrality inclusive service center, and it is learned that the group will conduct carbon asset verification on 87 charging stations in Suzhou in the future, which can achieve a total carbon emissions reduction of nearly 150,000 tonnes.
