BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- The total power consumption of Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, hiked 18 percent year on year to 39.31 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in the first half of this year, signaling positive growing momentum of Changji in its local economy.
To better serve the local economic and social development, Changji Power Supply Company of State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. took its big data service center as a platform to actively carry out big data application and conduct multi-dimensional analysis to analyze Changji’s economic performance.
In the first half of the year, power consumption in secondary industry in Changji surged 17.53 percent year on year to 30.386 billion kWh, accounting for 90.53 percent of Changji's total social power consumption. Among them, power consumed by enterprises above the designated size went up 1.46 percent year on year to 17.952 billion kWh.
The power consumption figures are a telling reflection of the excellent growth momentum of Changji’s industrial production.
Besides, Changji has accelerated the construction of eight major industrial clusters, which consumed 9.735 billion kWh of electricity in the January-June period.
Driven by new scenarios and new formats, green consumption is becoming increasingly popular in Changji.
During the period, the electric vehicle charging and battery swapping services showed rapid growth in electricity consumption, registering an increase of 386.4 percent year on year. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
