Shenyang city in north China uses AI technology to ensure power grid safety

July 25, 2024

Abstract : Shenyang, capital city of north China’s Liaoning Province, has been employing artificial intelligent patrol inspection to ensure the safe operation of power grid on the coming of flood season.

BEIJING, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Shenyang, capital city of north China’s Liaoning Province, has been employing artificial intelligent patrol inspection to ensure the safe operation of power grid on the coming of flood season.

Since the beginning of July, State Grid Shenyang Power Supply Company has planned the drone inspection routes for 608 distribution lines in key flood control areas in the city. With the help of the intelligent operation and maintenance system, the unmanned aerial vehicles can generate protection plans for lines with hidden dangers by analyzing data collected during the patrol inspections.

In addition, the grid company works with 29 reservoir operators in the city by setting up a joint drone patrol team during the flood season. Through the cooperation, they could evaluate the status of flood control facilities and power lines, and identify potential safety hazards in advance. (Edited by Jiang Yujuan, jiangyj@xinhua.org)
