BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Radar Auto, a new energy vehicle brand under Chinese automaker Geely, announced on Tuesday that its first overseas subsidiary was officially established in Thailand.
The new subsidiary is expected to independently operate the RIDDARA brand, taking the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region as a starting point to explore an even bigger market across the ASEAN and the Pacific regions.
As a brand that focuses on pickup trucks, Radar Auto is highly optimistic about the development prospects of Thailand's new energy market, as the country has a long-standing pickup truck culture and friendly market environment. In Thailand, pickup truck is a best-seller model, taking up over 40 percent of the auto market.
Thailand welcomes investment from Radar Auto, said a Thai government official, noting that with the Chinese company's advanced technology and well-developed industrial ecology, the investment will serve as an important engine to stimulate the upstream and downstream industries and improve technical capabilities of the pickup truck sector, driving Thailand's economic development.
