BEIJING, June 20 (Xinhua) -- China's dairy industry needs currently to integrate deeper into innovation, digital intelligence and green development for incubating more new quality productive forces, said Li Pengcheng, executive president of Chinese dairy giant Mengniu Group on Wednesday.
Li made the remarks during the China-Europe Think Tank Forum held in Brussels, Belgium on June 19, when Xinhua Institute unveiled a report on new quality productive forces during the event.
When calling for faster formation of new quality productive forces, Li stressed the importance of the above-mentioned three aspects as engines to further press ahead with development of dairy industry in China.
As a typical representative of Chinese dairy businesses, Mengniu is stepping out of China to the world. During the process, it exemplifies how a traditional dairy producer strives to leverage the modernization transformation to cultivate new quality productive forces.
Taking innovation seeking as an example, the Chinese dairy giant kept in recent years breaking bottlenecks in herbage plantation, cattle breeding and probiotics R&D to provide consumers with more nutritious products and health support.
Through a dual flywheel strategy prioritizing development of both the supply side and consumption side, Mengniu has entered the 3.0 era in terms of digital intelligence-driven productivity construction.
In May 2023, a fully digital and intelligent factory of Mengniu was put into operation in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and it, compared with a traditional factory, reduced related energy consumption by 43 percent and improved the productivity efficiency by 20 times.
For green development, the company has committed to accomplishing carbon peaking by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050 and adoption of carbon reduction measures throughout its entire industrial chains.
In the future, Mengniu hoped to join hands with more European partners to blueprint a joint prospect featuring smarter and greener innovation and to craft new quality productive forces in the dairy industry together to better serve global consumers, Li noted.
