BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Henan Electric Power Company has taken active actions to provide sufficient electricity to help drought prevention and seedling protection in central China’s Henan Province, where has been hit by continuous high temperatures since the beginning of June.
"There has been no effective rainfall in our farm area for more than two months. With the help of power grid employees, we have watered autumn crops for 2 to 3 times, which could help the seedlings to grow," said a worker with the Huangfanqu Farm in Zhoukou city in Henan.
The State Grid Zhoukou Power Supply Company has organized 112 power service teams to ensure electricity supply for over 11,600 low-voltage agricultural discharge stations and 108,000 water pumps across Zhoukou city. In order to serve drought relief and irrigation, State Grid Sanmenxia Power Supply Company simplified electricity supply application service for drainage stations, pumps and water wells, and responded to users' electricity demand in a rapid manner.
Since the beginning of this summer, the State Grid Henan Electric Power has set up 1,469 power service teams, patrolled 11,400 lines, and inspected 207,800 motor wells to ensure safe and sufficient power supply for farming. (Edited by Jiang Yujuan, jiangyj@xinhua.org)
