PARIS, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant BYD on Friday opened its European flagship showroom in Paris, in the immediate vicinity of Avenue des Champs-Elysees, one of the busiest shopping streets in Europe.
Covering 600 square meters on two levels, the shop showcases several of BYD's star models including BYD Seal (a sporty sedan), BYD Dolphin (a compact urban car) and BYD ATTO3 (a compact SUV). BYD Seal U DM-i, a plug-in hybrid SUV newly launched in Europe, will soon join the range, announced BYD in a statement.
"In the future, all internationally available BYD models will be showcased and sold at the flagship store, offering customers a wide range of choice," the statement added.
Lu Shaye, Chinese Ambassador to France, Jeanne d'Hauteserre, mayor of the 8th arrondissement of Paris, Stella Li, executive vice president of BYD and Michael Shu, managing director of BYD Europe cut the ribbon at the ceremony.
"The development of BYD represents the sci-tech progress achieved by the Chinese. It also tells China's firm commitment to the climate and green transition," said the Chinese ambassador, adding that Chinese NEVs equipped with advanced green tech will also contribute to the green transition in France and Europe.
