BEIJING, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Staff members of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company on Tuesday carried out safety checks of power supply at Wuxi County Shuguang Agricultural Technology Development Co., Ltd, in a bid to support local agricultural development and rural revitalization.

The company's Wuxi County branch has monitored the industry's power demand, upgraded rural power facilities and constantly conducted safety check of power lines and equipment, to ensure power supply of key links in potato breeding, including eradication of potato virus, integration of water, fertilizer, and pesticide and low temperature storage, and fuel the development of the whole industrial chain.
"Many electrical devices are used in the breeding of potato seedlings, which makes reliable power supply a must for us," said Liang Fengming, a staff member of the potato producer.
Thanks to the power guarantee from State Grid Chongqing branch, the county's characteristic product has been exported to foreign countries and significantly increased local farmers' income.

Hailed as "Hometown of Green Potatoes" in China, Wuxi has a potato planting area spanning approximately 360,000 mu (about 24,000 hectares). The county's potato has been listed in the first batch of 100 China-EU geographical indication (GI) products.
