Auto dealers enable Spanish customers to learn more about Chinese car brands

As Chinese electric cars continue to gain popularity in countries like Spain, Faconauto hopes that more Chinese automakers will begin producing vehicles in Europe.

BARCELONA, Spain, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Spanish customers will be able to learn more about Chinese car brands through a new collaboration between two major automobile dealers' associations from China and Spain.

Marta Blazquez, head of the Federation of Automotive Dealers Associations (Faconauto), told Xinhua in an interview on Monday: "We don't know the new Chinese brands very well and so through Faconauto and this agreement our dealers can get closer to these brands and interact with them."

The collaboration between Faconauto and the China Automobile Dealers Association was announced in April.

According to Blazquez, the "quickest and most profitable way" for Chinese automakers to get their products to Spanish consumers is "to go through those who have the expertise, in the almost 6,000 points of sale Faconauto has all over Spain."

"Everything that deepens mutual knowledge and encourages dialogue between China and Spain is included ... as well as promoting the participation of dealers from both countries in the trade events held in China and Spain," Blazquez told Xinhua.

"At the auto show in Beijing, we met Chinese manufacturers who are building vehicles that are made with fantastic innovation and technology of the highest level, but also with the level of safety that Europe demands," said Blazquez.

Blazquez also pointed out that Europe's "ambitious" goal of eradicating vehicles that run on fossil fuels provides a unique opportunity for Chinese car brands.

As Chinese electric vehicles continue to increase in popularity in countries like Spain, Faconauto hopes that more Chinese automakers will begin producing vehicles in Europe.

"What we want to see is what's starting to happen: for Chinese brands to build vehicles in Europe," Blazquez said.
