BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Hunan Electric Power Co., Ltd. is ramping up mechanized power tower assembly to boost high-quality grid construction and safe operation in central China's Hunan Province, according to a company release available on Tuesday.
At the construction site of a 500 kv transmission lines project between Minfeng Village and Xiangtan City, State Grid Hunan Electric Power's workers have assembled in the mountain area power towers with various equipment.
By May 23, over 30 mechanized equipment of different types such as the self-developed multifunctional work vehicles of State Grid Hunan Electric Power have been put into operation for the project, which is likely to lift the project's overall mechanized construction ratio to 90 percent.
Covering a total length of 48.429 km, the Minfeng Village-west Xiangtan City transmission lines project started construction in November 2023 and its basic construction work is about to complete in near future. A total of 120 power poles and transmission towers will be newly installed for the project.
Upon the future operation of the project, one of the key projects to ensure power supply during the summer electricity consumption peak in Hunan, overall grid reliance in Xiangtan City and Loudi City will be greatly enhanced.
State Grid Hunan Electric Power has been shoring up mechanized power grid construction to reduce costs and risks. Alongside the gradual increase in application of mechanized equipment in grid construction, construction efficiency of its grid projects rose by 30 percent on average, according to the company.
