BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Henan Electric Power Supply Co. has carried out environmental protection management throughout the whole process of power grid planning and construction, in an effort to reduce environmental impacts.
In Jiyuan, a mountainous city in central China’s Henan Province, State Grid Jiyuan Power Supply Company, a subsidiary of the State Grid Henan Electric Power Supply Co., has taken measures such as working out detailed construction plans by taking into account of dense forest and rock formation, and using energy-saving transformers, environmental-friendly vacuum circuit breakers and building wallboard, to reduce its construction impact over the forest area.
In the construction of Miaolian Line iron tower in Jiyuan, the power grid company is using reverse circulation drilling rig equipment to reduce the drilling area by over 100 square meters and cut energy consumption and carbon emissions at the same time.
In its 220 kV power grid project, the company is addressing environmental issues such as construction in mountainous areas, major grain planting areas and ecological protection areas along rivers, to optimize the project design and construction plans in order to boost green development in Henan.
