BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd. has self-developed a platform for distributed photovoltaic (PV) power management by combining cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and industrial internet, according to the company.
The platform, with the function of accurate positioning, evaluation and optimizing allocation of distributed PV power, will serve the accurate management of distributed PV power in east China's Jiangsu Province, which spans an area of 100,000 square kilometers.
With a simple input of location, based on the region's development demand and the status quo of local power grid, the platform can calculate the development capacity of this area in one second, said Shi Mingming, an expert with the company's research institute, adding that the platform will play an important role in the decision-making of government and PV investors.
As a powerhouse of PV, Jiangsu has developed a complete PV industrial chain. The province's installed capacity of PV power has reached 43.83 million kilowatts by the end of the first quarter of 2024. During the same period, its installed capacity of distributed PV power has reached 33.32 million kilowatts, accounting for 76 percent of the total. The year of 2024 has seen a rapid growth in the province, with monthly growth exceeding 1.21 million kilowatts.
The platform has sorted many hurdles in the development of PV industry, providing a digital tool for distributed PV power development and green energy transition, worth being promoted nationwide, said Dong Xuzhu, dean of School of Electrical Engineering and Automation from Wuhan University.
