Hungary is the first European country to sign a Belt and Road cooperation document with China. The two sides have achieved remarkable results in Belt and Road cooperation in recent years, with cooperation in areas such as economy, finance and culture increasingly close.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary. It is of special significance for the BREIP to inaugurate an Eastern European liaison office in Hungary this year.
Initiated by Xinhua News Agency in June 2019, the BREIP aims to increase mutual communication and understanding through information sharing and promote mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation in economy and trade. Currently, 61 institutions from 37 countries and regions have joined the BREIP.
Hungary has seen five institutions joining the BREIP, including ATV Media Group, becoming the country with the largest number of BREIP member institutions in Europe.
The Eastern European liaison office is the second liaison office set up by the BREIP. Its first liaison office was inaugurated in Shanghai last September.
The Thematic Forum on China-Hungary Belt and Road Pragmatic Cooperation is organized by Xinhua News Agency and ATV Media Group, and co-organized by China Economic Information Service and the Europe Bureau of Xinhua News Agency, with the guidance of China's State Council Information Office. Representatives of government departments, enterprises and financial institutions of China and Hungary, as well as related experts and scholars, attended the forum and had in-depth discussions on the theme of leading the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries and sharing development opportunities.
