ZANZIBAR, Tanzania, March 24 (Xinhua) -- The 33rd batch of the Chinese medical team on Friday taught 27 local doctors and interns in Tanzania's Zanzibar acupuncture therapy, a component of traditional Chinese medicine.
The lecture on Chinese acupuncture therapy for cervical spondylosis held at Kiwemgyi District Hospital enabled the attendees to gain new treatment skills for use in the Zanzibar archipelago.
Wei Changqun, a Chinese medical doctor in the 33rd Chinese medical team, explained the steps, techniques, key points, and clinical efficacy of the Chinese acupuncture treatment for cervical spondylosis.
Ali Kombo, one of the doctors who attended the lecture, said that he had benefited greatly, adding that he learned that Chinese traditional medicine has such a unique efficacy.
Kombo also said that Chinese acupuncture therapy can save patients from the cost and pain of taking medicines, injections, or undergoing surgery. "We should study Chinese medicine seriously and relieve more patients from pain," he said.
China has been sending medical teams to Zanzibar since 1964.
