BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese opera face-painting on eggshells, which was listed as the intangible cultural heritage in Linyi City of east China's Shandong Province in 2016, has been recognized as a symbol of the traditional culture of the Chinese nation.
Painting the faces of traditional opera characters on palm-sized and fragile eggshells, which requires ultimate precision, boasts the high collection value.
The craft is not only a traditional Chinese folk art, but also a new window to unfold the charm of Chinese culture to the world.
Zhao Limei is a representative inheritor of the craft in Fei County of Linyi City.
Under her brush, the seemingly useless eggshells take on new artistic value and shine with new vitality.
According to Zhao, she will make her best efforts to pass down and promote the development of the craft. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
