BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- MG and IM, two major independent brands under China's main carmaker SAIC Motor, will showcase a total of 10 new electric and intelligent vehicle models including L6 and MG3 HEV at the upcoming 2024 Geneva International Motor Show scheduled to open on February 26, according to SAIC Motor on Tuesday.
This move aims at demonstrating Chinese carmakers' sci-tech innovation capability and promoting the green and intelligent transformation in automobile industry, according to the company.
L6, the latest car model developed by SAIC Motor's high-end pure electric intelligent brand IM, will make its global debut at the show. MG3 HEV will also be brought to the show, which combines the advantages of multi-scenario electrification perception, strong power, fuel economy, and a quiet cabin, and is expected to become SAIC Motor's new global hit model following the MG4 EV.
In 2023, SAIC Motor's overseas sales reached 1.21 million units, up 19 percent year on year, ranking first among Chinese automotive enterprises for eight consecutive years.
SAIC Motor stated that Europe is not only the birthplace of the world's automobile industry but also its largest overseas market. In the European market, SAIC Motor sold a total of 330,000 vehicles in 2023, with the sales of its MG4 EV reaching 100,000 units.
