ZHENGZHOU, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Southern Hami-Zhengzhou ±800 kW ultra-high voltage transmission line has supplied more than 360 billion kWh of electricity to Central China’s Henan Province since its operation in 2014, equivalent to a reduction of 300 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions during the same period, said the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company.
The project is the first ultra-high voltage transmission project that transmits electricity produced in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to central China region. It passes through six provinces and autonomous regions including Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Henan, with a length of 2,191 kilometers.
The project has improved Henan’s electricity supply over the years and promoted Xinjiang’s economic development, said the grid company in a press release. On December 14, 2023, the project transmitted electricity of over 100 million kWh to Henan when the lowest temperatures in the province dropped to minus 10 degrees Celsius, ensuring stable electricity supply in the province.
