XI'AN, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called for efforts to promote industrial innovation through scientific and technological innovation and accelerate the cultivation of new productive forces.
Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection tour in northwest China's Shaanxi Province from Monday to Tuesday.
The premier inspected a display devices company on Monday. He stressed that manufacturing enterprises should increase spending on research and development and foster their technological competition edges.
While visiting a smart braking manufacturer, Li urged the company to seize the latest development trend of commercial vehicles and accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading.
The premier also inspected Western Superconducting Technologies Co., Ltd. and encouraged the firm to promote technological development and continuously advance the transformation and industrial application of sci-tech achievements.
During his visit to a material technology firm on Tuesday, Li called on the company to focus on cutting-edge technologies and address key and core technological problems.
At a drone production company, the premier said that the drone industry has broad prospects, calling for stronger efforts to research and develop new technologies and products and better tap the economic potential of the low-altitude airspace.
At the new campus of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Li urged teachers and students to make more progress in building the university-enterprise joint innovation platform and promoting the integration among industrial, academic, and research circles.
The premier fully recognized the achievements of Shaanxi's economic and social development and expected the province to give full play to its advantages, ensure the solid implementation of policies, and make more contributions to overall national development.
Li also presided over a symposium and listened to the opinions and suggestions of local officials on the draft government work report and government work.
