BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- ByteDance, a leading platform for short-form mobile videos, is building overseas R&D centers in Canada and Australia, reported Shanghai Securities News.
According to ByteDance, majority staff of the centers will be recruited locally. ByteDance has also dispatched some engineers from the United States, China, and Singapore to support construction of the centers.
Construction of the centers is expected to facilitate the company's overseas business development and better meet users’ demand in different markets.
It is reported that ByteDance currently has over 110,000 employees in more than 120 cities worldwide and has set up R&D centers in 15 cities of four countries. Some of the centers have been in trial operation for approximately six months. The centers serve the development of the company's multiple overseas businesses, such TikTok, CapCut, and Lemon8.
