BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- The artificial intelligence (AI) industry in China will see significant growth in the next 10 to 15 years, with multiple industrial factors developing into world-leading level, according to CCID Consulting Co., Ltd. during an event held on Tuesday in Beijing.

By the year 2035, it is estimated that the scale of China's AI industry will reach 1.73 trillion yuan (about 240.47 billion U.S. dollars), accounting for 30.6 percent of the world's total, according to CCID Consulting, which is a subsidiary of the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID) under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The company also predicted that China's computing power will reach over 360 EFLOPS by the year 2026, with three-year compound growth rate achieving 20 percent. With increasing digital scenarios and rapid development of technologies including AI and the Internet of Things, the demand for computing power will surge, said the company.

In addition to AI and computing power, Tuesday's event witnessed discussions around 10 other key areas of the information technology sector including industrial control systems, network security, data governance, digital transformation, 5G communications and so on, shedding light upon the industry's future development supported by new technologies, new models, new business forms and new changes.
