BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- A wholly-owned subsidiary of China's battery cell manufacturer Gotion High-tech on Sunday signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Chinese automaker Chery to carry out all-round cooperation in the field of passenger cars and commercial vehicles and jointly develop new energy vehicle market, reported Shanghai Securities News citing words from Gotion High-tech.
According to the agreement, the two parties will carry out all-round cooperation on Chery's passenger cars, buses, logistics vehicles, heavy trucks and other vehicle projects. As main supplier, Gotion High-tech will fully participate in the development and supply of these projects.Chery Automobile will introduce advanced battery technologies such as Guoxuan's third-generation battery cells, and strengthen cooperation with Gotion Hi-Tech in battery platformization, cell consistency and safety, as well as battery big data.
Moreover, in new business areas such as energy storage and electric ships, the two parties will jointly explore innovative business models. Using respective competitive advantages in the international market, the two sides will jointly expand overseas new energy markets and strengthen cooperation in ESG and low-carbon emission reduction, so as to improve brand reputation and market awareness.
In 2012, Gotion Hi-Tech and Chery began to explore the application of new energy products. In 2022, the cooperation between the two sides were further deepened, with an annual installed capacity of more than 130,000 units, a year-on-year increase of more than 220 percent.
