WUHAN, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Open roads for the testing of intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) have been extended in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, allowing vehicles to travel across the Yangtze River, China's longest river, starting from Friday.
A total of 1,533.25 km of roads have been made usable for ICV testing in the city in this expansion, including three Yangtze River bridges.
Thanks to its scientific and technological innovation and the development of its automotive industry, Wuhan has been actively carrying out the commercial demonstration of autonomous driving in recent years.
The cumulative length of roads open to test ICVs has exceeded 3,378.73 km in Wuhan, covering an area of about 3,000 square km. More than 350 ICVs have been tested and operated regularly in Wuhan, and the cumulative travel service orders have exceeded 760,000, ranking high in the country.
