BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Some staff of State Grid carried out on-site electrical fire hazard investigation Tuesday in the Tujia villages, Xiaonanhai Town, Qianjiang District, Chongqing Municipality to help safeguard the production of Xilan Kapu or Tujia brocade, an intangible cultural heritage, with strong power support.

Xilan Kapu is the name of Tujia brocade in the language of the Tujia ethnic group, with patterns mainly consisting of diamond structures and diagonal lines. It is among the first batch of national-level intangible cultural heritages, as well as one of the five major brocades in China.
The support of State Grid and its stable power supply make the processing of Xilan Kapu more precise and safe, said Lu Aihua, an inheritor of Xilan Kapu craftsmanship.

As a pure handmade fabric, Xilan Kapuhas very high requirements for the production environment which should be dry and warm at all times. The Tujia stilted buildings where Xilan Kapu is produced are all made of wooden structures, and are vulnerable to fire if there is electric leakage, arc short circuit,etc.
Therefore, Qianjiang Power Supply Branch of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has tailored power services for these buildings, arranging staff to check and eliminate electrical fire hazards, install leakage protection switches, and explain the knowledge of safety electricity use to the villagers.
From producing clothing with the Xilan Kapu element to processing related tourism souvenirs, State Grid has offered a lot of help, said a Xilan Kapu embroiderer.

To serve the development of the local featured industry, Qianjiang Power Supply Branch of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has established a regular contact mechanism to precisely master the electricity needs of the Xilan Kapu workshops, as well as a dedicated service team to provide full power services.
At present, the company is actively exploring a coordination mode between power supply services and cultural protection, and going all out to create a high-quality electricity business environment, in a bid to help with cultural inheritance with power support.
