BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Supported by the State Grid Corporation of China (State Grid), the flower and bonsai planting industry in Suqian City of East China's Jiangsu Province has become a strong boost to the local efforts on “beautiful economy” development.
In recent years, Shuyang County in Suqian City has leveraged its strengths to develop a high-quality flower and ornament plants industry, with “Shuyang-style bonsai” as its core. Shuyang now boasts over 10 million bonsai trees with an annual turnover of up to 4 billion yuan.
“The model of ‘plant + e-commerce + livestreaming’ is now an essential skill for local business owners in the industry,” said Hu Daobing, a village official of Yanxia Village, Yanji Town in Shuyang County.
From planting to operation, the “beautiful economy” in rural areas would be impossible without a safe and reliable power grid. The base has redoubled efforts to explore electrified planting, as well as to build facilities such as automatic electric spray irrigation and temperature-controlled smart greenhouses, according to Zhang Xin, head of the Livestreaming Base in Shawan Village, Yanji Town, Shuyang County.
To ensure safe and reliable power supply for irrigation, lighting systems, and other planting equipment, the State Grid has been working with flower farmers in Suqian to meet their diverse needs in electricity use. The company assists its customers in repairing electrical equipment and eliminating safety hazards in a timely manner.
For the next step, the State Grid will plans to launch projects in areas with inadequate power supply facilities and high electricity demand, and step up efforts on the construction of power infrastructure, said Bao Shuping, director of Xinhe Power Supply Station of the State Grid Shuyang County Electric Power Company.
