BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- China issued new local government bonds worth nearly 7.08 trillion yuan (about 986.3 billion U.S. dollars) in the first nine months of this year, the Ministry of Finance said.
Of the total, special bond issuance came in at 4.83 trillion yuan in the period, while the issuance of general bonds amounted to 2.25 trillion yuan.
During the January-September period, local government bonds were issued with an average issuance term of 13.1 years, and at an average interest rate of 2.9 percent.
In September alone, local government bond issuance reached 775.1 billion yuan.
By the end of September, China's outstanding local government debts stood at 38.9 trillion yuan, within the official limit for this year, the ministry said.
