BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Second Assembly of the Belt and Road Economic Information Partnership (BREIP) was held on Wednesday in east China's Shanghai.
Representatives of about 24 member institutions participated in the assembly to jointly discuss new development opportunities of the BREIP and better contribute to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The assembly elected new BREIP presidium members and completed the amendment of its articles of association.
Fu Hua, president of Xinhua News Agency, was elected as the BREIP’s new presidium executive chairman.
According to Fu, the news agency is willing to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with BREIP members to vigorously promote the construction of the sharing network.
At the assembly, the BREIP set up a liaison office in Shanghai, which is set to provide all-round services for BREIP members, including information resources, business exchanges, event organization, etc.
To better serve the BRI, the BREIP was initiated by Xinhua News Agency in June 2019 to break information barriers and promote global economic information connectivity.
At present, about 56 world-renowned news agencies, information service organizations, research institutes and business associations from 37 countries and regions have joined the BREIP as its members. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
