BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition on Dehua porcelain, a type of white Chinese porcelain made in Dehua County, Quanzhou City in east China's Fujian Province and has gained worldwide fame as "Blanc de Chine" (White from China), kicked off on Monday in Germany's Frankfurt.
The exhibition slated for August 28 to 30 aims to propel development of Dehua ceramics sector and boost cultural exchanges between China and Germany. Representatives from German political, business and ceramics circles were attracted to participate in the show as well as relevant promotion campaigns and project signing events.
The exhibition in Frankfurt marks the first overseas stop of the Dehua porcelain international exhibition tour, which commenced in Beijing earlier this month, after Dehua's exhibitions in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand since the beginning of this year were well received by local people.
According to the plan for the international exhibition tour, Dehua porcelain will be displayed in six Chinese cities and 26 countries and regions with frequent trade exchanges with Fujian in the next five years.
Dehua is a ceramics manufacturing powerhouse and export base in China. It was dubbed the "World Ceramics City" by the World Crafts Council in 2015. In 2021, the kilns of Dehua were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List along with many other sites near Quanzhou for their importance for medieval maritime trade and the exchange of cultures and ideas around the world.
