BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Construction of the Mtentu Bridge, the highest bridge in Africa undertaken by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), has commenced recently,  reported Science and Technology Daily Wednesday, citing announcement of South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL).

Located on the coast of the Indian Ocean in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, the Mtentu Bridge forms part of SANRAL's N2 Wild Coast Road program.

The bridge is designed with a total length of 1,130 meters, a main span of 260 meters and a pier height of 220 meters. Besides, the bridge adopts the 66-meter long-span concrete continuous beam jacking process, which fully demonstrates the construction level and technological content of China's infrastructure.
